La reducción de cupos por parte, también, de exportadores grandes los tiene con fruta en el campo o con precios inferiores al oficial.
Esta semana será decisiva, lo anunció Jorge Toapanta Vera, dirigente orense: “Estamos analizando durante estos días una movilización. Estamos trabajando en las marchas para esta semana que empieza. Sabemos que no van a resolver el problema, por eso tenemos que hacer la movilización. Si no hay respuesta tomaremos medidas más drásticas”.
Entre enero y octubre del presente año las ventas de guineo al exterior generaron 1.873 millones de dólares, esto el 24,25% de las exportaciones no petroleras, de acuerdo con las estadísticas del Banco Central.

Para el 2012 el sector exportador bananero pronostica que el 30% de la fruta que se producirá en el país no se podrá colocar en los mercados internacionales, debido a que el precio de la caja de la fruta ecuatoriana será el más alto en comparación a sus competidores.
Eduardo Ledesma, director ejecutivo de la Asociación de Exportadores de Banano del Ecuador (AEBE), pidió ayer a las autoridades del Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería, Acuacultura y Pesca (Magap) revisar el precio mínimo de sustentación el cual se fijó en $ 6,25 para la temporada alta y $ 4,90 para la baja.

El irrespeto al pago del precio mínimo referencial de la caja de banano (USD 5,50) continúa en el país.
Así lo comprobó en sus operativos de control, el Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería, Acuacultura y Pesca (Magap). Una compañía incurrió en esta falta y fue sancionada con multa de USD 670 000.
Dicho valor equivale a 25 veces el monto de evasión o incumplimiento conforme lo determina la Ley del Banano. Es decir, fueron USD 26 800 que la empresa sancionada dejó de pagar a los proveedores.

A ship from the Danish shipping company "Maerks Line" arrived last Saturday at the main pier of Bolívar Port, to start shipping operations of banana tree containers destined to the United States and some European countries.
Wilmer Encalada, manager for the Port Authority in Bolívar Port (APPB), pointed out that it's about an agreement with the multinational to widen market opportunities: "We have a good fruit production in the South area of Ecuador".

The Ecuadorian Market reacts
Since the new government in Ecuador created an official price of 5,50 dollars per box for the producers, many exporters anticipated the current problem for Banana boxes in Europe.
As we all know at the moment is the low season of bananas because of the diferent reasons like the apperance of new summer fruits, holiday seasons and the entrance in the world market of new countries producers.
And many countries are trading with prices almost impossible for ecuadorian bananas to challenge. For this reason small producers are beginning to sell the box for lower prices, which is affecting the market prices for the rest of the producers and exporters of Ecuador. The official price was established, but not respected.
It is our hope that the current government will find a proper solution, considering the real prices on this season that would work for all the parties involved.

Het weer heeft veel invloed op de bananenteelt. Hierdoor zijn er volgens diverse landen het afgelopen jaar moeilijke tijden geweest tijdens de productie. Ook de prijzen stijgen. Op 7 februari waren 40-pond bananendozen uit Costa Rica $16,50 en bananen uit Honduras lagen tussen de $15 en $16. Een jaar eerder was de prijs $13,50.
Bananentelers, leveranciers en retailers geven de schuld aan La Niña. Door koude en natte weersomstandigheden vorige herfst en winter werd er minder geoogst en was ook de aanvoer lager. Een voorbeeld is Costa Rica, waar het erg koud weer was. Ook in Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Brazilië en Australië is er minder geproduceerd door de regen.
Volgens een woordvoerder gaan landen met een tekort, die hun klanten tevreden willen houden, zich richten op Ecuador, die de prijzen dan verhoogt. De grote spelers in de markt zoals Dole, Chiquita en Del Monte berekenen dit weer door aan hun klanten.
